Megan Garbutt
Story:
Megan is an outstanding young journalist who covers a multitude of elements of the women's and men's game. Most notably, her coverage during the EURO 2022 competition was exemplary. She is incredibly erudite in her opinion and views and always maintains an extremely measured and balanced opinion. Furthermore, the quality of her content is extremely high, despite the fact she is a relatively new entrant in the world of journalism. Moreover, she has broadened her horizons by being involved in multimedia activities with a variety of fan channels and live broadcasts.
Reason for nomination:
It is incredibly difficult to maintain an unbiased view when reporting on matters that you have a vested interest within, but Megan manages this with aplomb. She is increasingly involved in a multitude of aspects within the game including from a digital marketing perspective and does not just centre around a WSL-bubble, having keen knowledge further down the pyramid too. This allows her to offer a unique insight and perspective into other sides whose stories may not always be told or brought to light. In an age where representation is essential, Megan is one of the best voices at amplifying key issues which may otherwise go unnoticed.
