Sophie Mowle
Story:
As part of an Erasmus funded grant, Sophie has been studying the positive affects that playing Walking football has among the elderly, an often overlooked, but important area of research.
Reason for nomination:
My nominee deserves to be seen because of her commitment to the sports science industry, not just within a university context, but also the dedication she has shown within her own time, attending conferences around Europe and getting involved in football projects around the Coventry area. She has both supported grassroots walking football projects and worked with professional football clubs including Birmingham and Coventry FC. As she has consistently been a minority in her line of work, she has proven that women deserve their place in the industry and she has helped raise awareness of the positive impacts that football has on the wellbeing of all ages.
