Story:
I am a 26-year-old Mexican-American who has just moved to England in October 2022. This is my first time living anywhere that’s not Los Angeles (where I was born and raised). I’ve moved here for work. I am an Aerospace Engineer and when the opportunity presented itself to live abroad, i jumped at the opportunity as I’ve always dreamed of living in another country. Moving to England on my own has been daunting to say the least. But playing football is something I’ve always been passionate about and when I found out about the FootyAddicts app, where I can play pick-up games with other like-minded people, I was ecstatic. Playing football has made my transition to living in the UK a lot easier and enjoyable. I am, however, only one of the few girls that goes to play football with the guys which can sometimes be intimidating.
Reason for nomination:
I deserve to be seen because I want other girls to see that playing football with guys, although intimidating, can be fun and challenging in a positive way. Women are under-represented in both football and in the engineering field, and I’d love to show women that anything is possible.
