Charlotte Lynch
Story:
Charlotte is an extremely passionate player, she began her journey in a boys only team alongside her brother as there were no girls teams in the area at the time. Her mum believed in equality and spoke to the coaches and fought for her to be included in the boys training sessions and then the coach let her play for the team in fixtures every Saturday morning. Since then she has gone on the play for Millwall and Leyton Orient.
Reason for nomination:
She loves young people and when she was just a teenager her family opened a youth club where every Friday evening they welcomed young people giving them a positive space to learn, find community and eat lots of food.
Charlotte has since gone on to release regular tutorials online helping young footballers to engage in fun and engaging skills.
She is a regular giver to The Lions Food Hub which helps tackle food poverty (a cause that is close to her heart).
She is a mentor to young females, some of the powerful stories of the girls she has worked with is that one of the people she mentored is now drug-free, free from depression and has a stable job and income and now works with Charlotte to help her film her football content.
After graduating from uni, she worked in the PE department in a school in east London, saw there was no football team for girls and started one! This team came top three in the Schools tournament!
She has a huge heart, she’s a top quality footballer and deserves to be recognised for her input into the women's game!
