Charlotte Wilkes
Story:
Charlotte is a friend I met through our children. We cemented our friendship watching our kids play football every weekend. She is a mum of two children - 1 girl and 1 boy. Both play football - the girl is at the Chelsea Advanced Training Centre and the boy is at the Chelsea Development Centre. One day, Charlotte and I decided we had had enough of watching our children play football and decided to set up our own women's football team. The TD Sirens is now in its second year and is going from strength to strength. We have just entered the Surrey Flexi League and are looking forward to playing our first competitive matches.
Reason for nomination:
Charlotte is the most positive person I know. Her enthusiasm for football knows no bounds. To the extent that she now coaches the school's girls football team. Stepping in to support the PE teacher, Charlotte gives up her time every week to coach the girls when they play matches. She picks their positions, gives them the most amazing encouragement that pretty much every parent comments on (in a positive way!), she picks them up when they're down and is someone all the girls look up to. However she does this with zero coaching experience. So while her passion for watching and playing football is inspiring, I believe she would benefit from this network and the chance to expand her coaching expertise. This would mean the school could take on more players and Charlotte would know what to do to help them improve whilst also ensuring the good players get better. And it would hopefully benefit the TD Sirens team to help us gain from confidence during our first year in a League.
