Story:

My football journey started in The Netherlands at the age of 6 when I joined my local football club. My team was predominately made up of boys which I believe gave me a different perspective of the game, but also put pressure on me from a young age to perform well as I didn’t want to be part of the stereotype that girls weren’t as good as boys at playing sports, also being the only black person on the team meant I had to work twice as hard. After 4 years of playing for my local club, I had to stop playing for the team but continued playing in primary school during break/lunch until I moved to England in 2017.

When I moved to England I started off by playing for my school football team and later on in 2018 joined the West Ham United Foundation. Working my way up through the player pathway wasn’t easy but I finally signed for the academy in the 21/22 season.
I also dual signed for a women’s team in order to gain some senior experience.

At the start of the 22/23 season I received my first international call up for Nigeria, I was part of the provisional squad for the U17s World Cup which took place in India in October 2022, unfortunately, due to illness I had to drop out after a month.

Despite all the setback I have faced, I continue to work hard in order to make myself proud and achieve my dream of signing pro one day.

Reason for nomination:

I believe that I deserve this due to my resilient nature. Despite all the challenges I have faced such as bullying, injuries and struggling with my mental health. I haven’t let these factors discourage me from achieving what I want to.

I want to be a role model to young girls who aspire to be a footballer too, as I don’t feel like the representation out there is great enough. Being nominated get’s me a step closer to doing just so.
