Ellisha Connett
Committed Coach

Story:

Ellisha always dreamt of creating football teams for girls within our local community, it had been her ambition for years and years.
With the apparent stigmatism behind football being a sport for boys/men, it was a difficult challenge for her, but she never gave up and continuously focused on not failing. Eventually she managed to welcome a few girls to our club for some training sessions and because they enjoyed it the numbers showing up for training slowly grew until she had her very first girls team who she still manages now many years later as an under 16’s squad.
Since the first girls team was set up Ellisha has continued to encourage girls of all ages to play football, this has resulted in our club now having 4 flourishing girls teams.
With each season of Ellisha’s first girls team coming and going she was determined that they would have a team to join when they reached the age of playing adult football, and with the help and backing of our club she set up a ladies football team that are in to their second season and going from strength to strength.
Ellisha does everything she can possibly do to make female football in our community a success and genuinely puts the drive and ambition of the male set up to shame.

Reason for nomination:

This would be an amazing addition to Ellisha’s story. It would be so nice to give her the recognition that she truly deserves.
As a Chelsea supporter who I had the pleasure of sitting next to at Wembley for the FA cup final this really would add and tick an achievement to her bucket list at the same time.
To give something back to someone so selfless would also be something our whole community would be thankful for
