Lucy Roberts
Story:
Lucy has been playing football since she was 8 years old .. play for the school and the local team .. lucy was the only girl and played in any position her coach wanted her to play .. from goalie to striker .. didn’t bother lucy she was a girl playing in a boys team . As long as she was playing .. as the years rolled on lucy looked for a girls team to join of which one was county girls team .. spending time playing at county level Lucy took the decision to move away and follow her dreams and work hard at Worthing college .At college Lucy put 110 percent into her fitness and hard work .. unfortunately Lucy became mentally unwell .. and she became anorexic. Struggling in silence Lucy continued to play and work hard .. only when her family visited her notice her she had health issues. Under protest and denial Lucy returned to her home .
Reason for nomination:
The reason l have nominated Lucy is because she had to give up the most important part of her life her football.. be so unwell Lucy had to stop all fitness and football as her body couldn’t manage the stress.. at one point Lucy was to weak and eating had to be monitored make sure she ate and watched that she didn’t exercise.. took a good few months little steps introducing food to her again encouraging she was worth it .. mental issues are very hard to understand and Lucy began to open up and talk about her thoughts and feelings.. she lost her love for football and life .. Then an old football friend contacted her to see if she would like to join there team .. to which Lucy had a little twinkle which no one had seen for a while .. on having the chance to play Lucy worked hard and harder to over come the negative thought anorexia would show.. she went through a lot of pain and tears .. and the love of football started to show .. the smile return the laughter.. football saved Lucy .. she want to be the best she plays with so much commitment and passion.. even now she volunteers to help local girls in training and encourages to talk about mental health issues. Lucy has no problem with people know her history because that is where it is in the past. The future for Lucy is where she is now going all over the country for football trials.. Her dream is to play for England one day .. of which l know she will put everything she has to making that dream come true .. and along the way young girls how met Lucy will be warmed and encourage to be the best the can .
