Lydia Shale

Committed Coach

Story:

Lydia’s dreams and plans for the future needed to be readdressed and re planned following a long term health diagnosis Her dedication and excellent sportsmanship skills aided her recovery to the level it is today. Knowing she’s very unlikely to play again herself, Lydia has turned her attention onto coaching which she genuinely adores and approaches with the same level of dedication. Maintaining the positive ethos, her team continues to thrive and improve.

Reason for nomination:

Simply put, Lydia gets satisfaction from seeing others do well and improving. Currently coaching a university football team, Lydia has adapted good techniques and skills demonstrated by her own coach, which has in turn created a group of young ladies who also want to do well. She works tirelessly for the FA Youth Council and on various other projects whilst managing her own barriers but she doesn’t let them deter her. In fact, she uses them as motivation. Lydia is always willing and ready to take advise from those more experienced so having the possible opportunity to work with a professional coach will help her enormously.
