Reason for nomination:

I’m a 23 year old aspiring pro footballer. I’ve never played in an academy or professional setting and have only played in tier 6 of women’s football but despite this, I believe I’ll achieve my dream of making it to the wsl one day. I sometimes wish I could just get my head down and concentrate on football but unfortunately it’s not been that simple. In 2020, I left my family home due to domestic violence from my dad and for the past three years, I’ve lived with my girlfriend and her grandparents. Unlike my mum, I’m grateful that I get to actually have a fresh start and I get to have a job, live without constant restrictions and I get to work towards my dream. She doesn’t have those luxuries and that’s something that makes me want to achieve this even more. As well as wanting to reach my goal for my pure love of football, I’d love to be an advocate for domestic violence and make others feel exactly how I did when I read that Alex Scott had been through exactly the same things I have and still went on to play the top level possible. Because of my upbringing, self belief is a huge thing I lack and this year I told myself I’d do things out of my comfort zone. I live in the seaside town of Morecambe and opportunities like this don’t just show themselves to me so I’d be daft not to give this a go and see what happens. Having this kind of experience would be absolutely incredible and it could be an amazing insight into what my future could be like! Thank you :)
