Emily Laycock
Reason for nomination:
I have been working to promote equality in sport for the past couple of years through the use of my social media platforms. I am an aspiring sports journalist with a blog dedicated towards giving a female point of view on football, and I am an ambassador and blogger for Miss Kick, helping them to give women in football the platform they deserve, particularly in such a male dominated industry. I have loved running the social media accounts for my local football club Wakefield AFC for the past three seasons where it has been so incredibly welcoming being a female who loves the sport.
I think I deserve to be seen because I am actively working to create a space for females within the media side of the industry, using my voice to spread the message of equality - and I would love the opportunity to be mentored on my journey to becoming a sports journalist.
I have also recently had the opportunity to cover WSL press conferences for FromTheSpot, and attend the games as part of the media, receiving accreditation from FromTheSpot and writing the WSL match reports for the website.
