Hina Shafi

Hina Shafi
Community Champions

Reason for nomination:

Hina absolutely deserves to be seen - she is one of the most amazing women involved in football.

Hina recently won an award for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for her work in the local community alongside her work for Her Game Too and Northampton Town Community Trust. She was also recognised for her publication for BUCS Sport Race & Equality in the Football Workforce research.

To add to this, Hina was the youngest person in the country who has elected to be the Deputy Chair for a police scrutiny panel - she was around 21 at the time but left when she was 24. This included reviewing a stop and search/use of force videos and working with the police on their ‘unconscious bias’.

Hina has previously worked as a Regional Youth Network Member for the FA, to ensure all young people have meaningful opportunities to develop themselves and positively influence the football community.

Hina consistently flies the flag for equality in sport and is the official EDI Advisor for Her Game Too.
