Madeleine Blount

Madeleine Blount
Media Masterminds

Reason for nomination:

Maddie has always loved and played football, but the last 18 months has seen her set her focus on forging a career in the women’s football arena. Opportunities and experiences have led her towards a path in media and communications and she is currently applying for degree courses in Sports Journalism and Media and Communications.

Over the last 18 months she has been involved in helping coach an Under 9/10’s girls’ team, she has spent time with a football commentator, created social media content for a BeatFreeks x Aston Villa engagement project, volunteered at Copa Del Leukaemia tournaments, undertook a week’s work experience at the National Football Museum, spending time in marketing, collections, retail, and community.

She has been part of the student media team for Birmingham FA, takes photographs for her local men’s first team, is a photographer and social media contributor for Impetus 71 as well as creating her own content for TikTok (@madeleineblount).

She was really pleased to be selected for FA Leadership Academy and Regional Youth Network and now that she is 18 will be supporting Staffordshire Girls and Ladies Football League with their social media and photography at cup games.

On top of this she attends many football-related events and watches as many local and international women’s matches that she can.

Maddie has really shown commitment over the last 18 months to seeking out opportunities that can give her insight and experience into the women’s football industry and shows no signs of stopping. These experiences have taken her out of her comfort zone. Her motto last year became “I am getting comfortable with being uncomfortable” and her nerves never got the better of her when taking on new things.

I would love to see Maddie selected as a Media Mastermind for her achievements so far, but also to give her more opportunities to network and understand career opportunities that could be available to her in future. Thanks for the We See You Network and this opportunity.
