Sally Hassona
Reason for nomination:
Sally has been working with so much passion to change the perspective of women in Sport in a complex culture in Egypt where majority agree with underage arranged marriages for girls. She has delayed many arranged marriages through her boxing programs in less privileged areas in Cairo. She introduced girls to a different way of life, confidence and well being. She took them to Europe, and brought European girls even from London Community Boxing Club to exchange cultures with them to know their potential and worth. Sally has also mentored girls at the University of Oxford for a summer program and an indigenous Australian boxer.
Sally fundraises, applies for international grants, to help these girls in sport and careers so they can become independent and not set up for arranged marriages at a very young age. She also includes her 17 year old daughter to help her with her project, she really deserves this award.
