Izzy Lowen

Izzy has given hours and days and weeks of her life to ensuring that women and marginalised genders have a safe and fun environment in which to play sport.

When England won the Euros in 2022, there was a massive influx of people who wanted to try playing football for the first time - but there weren't a lot of clubs where beginners could access fulfilling football experiences.

Izzy was a massive driving force in the foundation of Leeds Hyde Park Women+, which has now grown to four teams and more than 100 members. Today, she is part of a committee which manages Headingley United, an inclusive space for people to have fun playing football and learn new skills in north west Leeds.

Izzy's organisational skills are second-to-none, and the dedication she has shown to providing football opportunities to people who might not have previously had them - giving so much of her time, energy and attention to this goal over the last five years - is inspiring. We need people like Izzy to keep the grassroots alive and thriving!
